Year of projects - 10.02.13

This is the first Year of Projects update, I've done in a while....I'm not sure where the weeks are going, but it always seems to be a Monday or a Tuesday....see proving my point its Monday today!

I've been keeping myself ticking over with a few things itching to be done but still more languishing in their project bags.

The first is a small baby blanket for a little boy born just before Christmas....easy make, using singles, half -doubles, doubles and trebles in no particular order.

The second thing which is currently on the needles is a second scarf for the hubby.....would you believe it, but since I finished the first one a few weeks ago, it does not come off, it goes on his bedside table at night time, and then gets put back on first thing the next morning.  We do live in a cold house, but I call that a massive success......this occurring to a man who has always treated my knitting and crochet as something to smirk about.

This scarf is pushing the boat out with a small, 'not-too-shouty' blue stripe.  Its made in two colourways of Kingcole Riot.

As I am sitting here typing this, I have just looked up and seen a male Great Spotted Woodpecker on the feeder outside the window...I know very little about birds, but I do know him, as he's far more exotic looking than the others that visit  (its very misty outside...either that or my windows are particularly dirty, you decide!) they are particularly shy and when they see movement they are away...so taking photos is a covert matter.

Right.....ought to go walk dog and kids....half-term hols.....lots of things to do!

Looking forward to catching up with all my fellow yop-pers sometime tonight!

  2. Sounds like your husband has become knit worthy hehehe Love the woodpecker! I love those surprise moments when nature takes a moment to remind us how beautiful it really is.

  3. Wow - handsome scarf and handsome bird (and cute blanket). We have a cold house too - Mr. M spends all his time in either the cowl I made him last year or the stridently warm hooded fleece robe I made him years ago. The fabric is printed with red, yellow, and green jalapeno peppers (to symbolise warmth, you know).

NIce that Mr. F properly appreciates your handiwork! :)

  4. How sweet of your husband! I love the colors you are using for his second scarf--very manly. Now that you are no longer farming, what is he doing now? The baby blanket looks just perfect for a baby boy!
I wish we had some pretty birds--we have nothing exotic and the only ones I see with any color to mention are blue jays and even they are pretty rare around here--you fellow looks quite dignified. :) I hope things have settled down for you now, after your big move--enjoy the holidays.

  5. Love the blue stripes in your hubby's scarf... and that he leaves it on the bedside table! Sometimes when we are at the barn my hubby leaves his hat on...it's that cold! Have you posted your squares yet? Hugs, Jill x

  10. You are most definitely the 'Blankie Queen'. :) Definitely your forte. :) Well done and I am glad hubby likes the scarf so much. It is lovely. I know what you mean about time getting away from you, by the way.

  11. Hehe, I love it that your hubby enjoys your handiwork- it must make you feel so proud.
Mine has said to me (in a worried tone) 'You won't crochet me a tie or anything, will you?"
    Oh, maybe I will...!

I'd love to hear what you think, and I won't be asking you to jump through hoops (or fill in a captcha) to do it.............
