Next Step Sock Knit-a-long

I'm not sure if you can sense the excitement in my voice.....but guess what?

I've finished a sock........and not just one sock........

.......two socks.......that's the beauty of doing two at a time you see!

So there we have it, I've done it, made toe-up-two-at-a-time socks and they fit like a dream, thank goodness, as I'm not planning on making anymore in a hurry!!  (You know this is probably like child birth and I'll be announcing plans to make another pair next month!)

The pattern was easy enough, not having attempted any of these methods before, its rather like magic as the socks start to form while your busy looking the other way.  I was rather surprised when someone mentioned the magic loop, that, that was what I was doing apparently.  I knitted them using 2.25mm needles and Regia sock yarn.  The pattern is Twisted Baskets from the Melissa Morgan-Oakes book .

I'm linking up with the rest of the knit-a-longers over at Crafts from the Cwtch...check out all the clever clogs over there!

Anyway....this welsh girl wants to wish you all a Happy Saint David's Day.....for those of you in the dark, 1st March is the day that we Welshies celebrate our patron Saint, St. David...so....

  1. OMG! Your children are SO cute...I love the grin on the one on the far right...but they are all just darling! We don't have any children that I get to see around here and I am SO missing children! I can't live in a place without children laughing and playing outside and hearing them and seeing them. Another reason I need to move. But Happy St. David's Day to you and your family. I'd never heard of it but then there's a lot of things I'm ignorant of! LOL!
Love those socks! And aren't you courageous!?!?!? Magic Loop, 2 at a time and toe up! Oh my! I'm doing Magic Loop, cuff down , one at a time. I'm on my second pair, second sock and then I'm going to try a new pattern and maybe a new method? We'll see.
    Congratulations! What's next????

You are one knitting nija! I love how your socks have turned out, just beautiful and so happy for these gloomy days.
I would love to have a slice for elevenses right now, my goodness its been an age since I last had some. I do have my mum's recipe but have never made it because I'm sure it won't be just as good as hers :o( and it will make me miss her. I might give it a try when i feel the moment is right as Andy love it x I'mmore than happy to share my recipe with you if you want to compare with yours. I think mum got hers from an Afrikaans friend who was the queen of "melktert" as far as we were concerned xox Penelope

I'd love to hear what you think, and I won't be asking you to jump through hoops (or fill in a captcha) to do it.............
